Created in 2015 by the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the MAVA Foundation, the Surfrider Europe Foundation, the Tara Ocean Foundation and the IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation, the Beyond Plastic Med (BeMed) association aims to combat plastic pollution in the Mediterranean Sea.
Since 2017, BeMed has created a regional dynamic to fight plastic pollution at source, by supporting small local projects. By strengthening the capacities of actors in the field and facilitating the experience sharing, BeMed allows the replication of good practices in the Mediterranean basin.
Today, BeMed wishes to go further by strengthening its impact in the Mediterranean islands. Real tourist hotspots, islands are strongly impacted by plastic pollution. Their size, however, allows us to hope for a more rapid impact of actions to reduce plastic pollution on their territory.
This is why BeMed is launching a call for projects to strengthen efforts to reduce plastic pollution on Mediterranean islands. In order to aim at a good complementarity with its Call for Micro-Initiatives launched each year in October, the projects targeted by this call will be of a larger dimension and will last two years.

The call for projects in brief:
Eligible actors: The call for projects concerns all types of public or private stakeholders whose legal status allows them to receive grants.
Type of targeted actions: The call only concerns actions that are part of a project already under way, that complement a completed project, or that are the replication of actions that have proven to be effective.
Eligible countries: The call concerns the islands of all countries around the Mediterranean.
BeMed’s contribution for each project: up to a maximum of 100,000 euros.
Project start date: from October 2020.
Duration of the project: maximum 24 months (end of the project by 30 September 2022 at the latest).
The call is open until Sunday 21 June 2020.

BeMed lance un appel à projets pour réduire la pollution plastique dans les îles de Méditerranée
Depuis 2017, BeMed s’est engagée à créer une dynamique régionale pour lutter contre la pollution plastique à la source, à travers le soutien de petits projets locaux. En renforçant ainsi les capacités des acteurs de terrains et en les faisant se rencontrer, BeMed facilite le partage d’expérience et la réplication des bonnes pratiques dans le bassin méditerranéen.
Aujourd’hui, BeMed souhaite aller plus loin en renforçant son impact au niveau des îles de Méditerranée. Véritables points chauds touristiques, elles sont fortement impactées par la pollution plastique. Cependant, leur dimension géographique réduite permet d’espérer un impact plus rapide des actions qui viseront à réduire la pollution plastique sur leur territoire.
C’est pourquoi, BeMed lance aujourd’hui un appel à projet destiné à renforcer les efforts déjà en cours afin de réduire la pollution plastique sur les îles méditerranéennes. Afin de viser une bonne complémentarité avec son Appel à Micro-Initiatives lancé chaque année en octobre, les projets ciblés par cet appel seront de plus grande dimension et auront une durée de deux ans.

L’appel à projets en bref :
Acteurs éligibles : L’appel à projets concerne tous types d’acteurs dont le statut juridique permet de recevoir des subventions.
Type d’actions ciblées : L’appel concerne uniquement des actions s’intégrant à un projet déjà en cours, venant compléter un projet terminé ou la réplication d’actions s’étant révélées efficaces.
Pays éligibles : L’appel à projets concerne les îles de l’ensemble des pays du pourtour méditerranéen.
Contribution de BeMed pour chaque projet : à hauteur de 100 000 euros maximum.
Date de début du projet : à partir d‘octobre 2020
Durée du projet: 24 mois au maximum (fin du projet au plus tard le 30 septembre 2022).
L’appel est ouvert jusqu’au dimanche 21 juin 2020.
